Extensive testing helped SIC determine the ideal flex pattern for maximum comfort and performance. Adding a bit more flex to the paddle provides positive feedback to the user and maximizes effective power output while reducing stress on joints for longer, more enjoyable paddle sessions.
Like a bird of prey diving for a fish.
The Talon is aptly named for just what it does best - diving into water, slicing through it, and slipping back out effortlessly like a bird of prey. Now you can experience how it feels to move like another apex predator with the SIC Talon 2 Piece SUP Paddle! Extensive testing helped SIC determine the ideal flex pattern for maximum comfort and performance. Adding a bit more flex to the paddle provides positive feedback to the user and maximizes effective power output while reducing stress on joints for longer, more enjoyable paddle sessions.
The design and performance of SIC paddle blades is based around three phases of an efficient paddle stroke:
The Catch - These blades are designed for a smooth entry into the water with minimal splash or blade rotation during entry. This allows the blade to become firmly planted in the water for the second phase of the stroke.
The Pull - This is where power is applied from the paddler, to the blade, into the water and is what propels you forward. Keeping the blade slightly narrower and longer than traditional SUP paddle blades gives you several "gears" depending on how deeply you insert the paddle into the water. Together with a slight dihedral in the blade it also reduces cavitation (flutter) for maximum transfer of power from body to blade to water.
The Recovery - Just as important as The Catch, a clean recovery minimizes power loss and maintains rhythm. The thin profile allow the blade to "pop" out of the water at the end of the stroke quickly and cleanly. The thin profile also increases blade performance when feathering the paddle through the water, which is an advanced recovery technique used in many situations, from helping maintain balance to course corrections.

We all need a bit of help once in a while! Some more than others…
So here is a little guideline to some questions you might have.
Why should I buy from your Store?
You are buying from a real CANADIAN Surf Shop. We ship directly from our Shop and don’t use any middle-man 3rd party drop shipping.
We are located on Vancouver Island and have been here since 1998. Drop by anytime to see us, we are open 7 days a week 8:30-5.
All purchases to the USA or anywhere else in the World are final.
How do I place an order?
I think most of us have been through this process before, it’s pretty simple –
Browse though our Website until you see something you need or want (or both)
Select the “Add to Cart” button and then “Continue Shopping”
You can “View Cart” at anytime and make sure you have the correct products and quantity added.
Once you are ready to “Checkout” please fill in all your details, this way if we need to contact you we can get hold of you.
Shipping
We use Shopify Shipping which, due to their size, provides the best rates.
We’ll try to use recycled boxes and materials whenever we can, so don’t be surprised when your T-Shirt, Wax and Ding repair kit arrives in a recycled bootie box.
We are not responsible for "Porch Pirates" or items that have been lost after being picked up by a shipping company. That being said, we will do our best to find out what happened to your package and advocate on your behalf.
Purchasing a Surfboard or Stand up Paddleboard (SUP)
Boards are pretty fragile and SUPs are big, so to ship these across the county can be costly.
We don’t typically ship boards, you may however purchase a board now, but it will be for pick-up only at our store on Vancouver Island. If you wish to have someone pick the board up on your behalf, we will gladly pack it very securely for an additional $40.00 packaging fee. The board will leave here in new condition and we will not take any responsibility for any damage. After purchasing a board, please call us Toll Free at 1(855)594-5452 during business hours to confirm pick up details.
What if you have to return something…
Shipping in Canada is expensive so please make sure that you have picked out the right product and size before you confirm your order.
We are just a small independent “Mom and Pop” store, not COSTCO, so if the fault is ours we will cover all the shipping costs, however, if the fault is yours, you will have to mail the item back to us at your cost or come to the store and exchange it.
Exchange or refunds within 14 days with receipt.
The item must not be worn, washed or damaged in any way or we will not accept the return. This applies to clothing as well as wetsuits.
For online exchanges the buyer will be responsible for the cost of the return shipping and any new shipping costs.
You may also exchange your item in person at our store.
